We talk through any fears you have, lift the mystery of what happens with a surgical birth, and empower you with the information and options that you will have available at your birth.

How Do I Know Which Class is Right For Me?

Since every expecting parent has unique needs, my classes focus on preparing you for all birth outcomes. If you are unsure of which class is best for you, check out the FAQ here or reach out for a 1 on 1 chat to discuss your needs.

Short on time?

My private prenatal class is going to be the best fit for you. We go over all the same content as my 3 day class – but make it fit your unique needs. You are able to ask all the questions you want, go at your own pace, and still get all the information you need to be prepared. Offered in person or virtually via Zoom.

I'm not a first time parent, but I didn't feel prepared for my first. What class is best for me?

Any of the classes would work well for you. If you’d like a more focused class for your unique needs, then a private class may be the best fit. Available in person or virtually via Zoom.

I found out I need a scheduled c-section. Is the c-section prep class all that I need?

Yes, I still teach about signs of labour (in case you go into labour before your scheduled date), the fourth trimester, postpartum planning, breastfeeding, and more. It is a comprehensive class focused more on surgical birth prep and procedures so you feel prepared, informed, and empowered.

I've never held a baby. Help!

My prenatal class includes newborn care 101. Or if you feel prepared for birth but just need reassuracne about taking care of a newborn then the stand alone Newborn Care 101 is perfect. We go over skin to skin, breast/chestfeeding, bottle feeding, infant sleep, bathing, diapering, etc. If you have a question, I have the answer!

What Is Covered?

Mind & Body

We start by examining the mind-body connection.  The key to having a positive birthing experience is by truly understanding yourself and your body.  The Fear-Tension-Pain Cycle is discussed.

Preparing for labour and birth
We go over everything from packing your hospital bag to how to prepare your living space, writing a birth plan, and when to call your doula, or midwife and when to go to the hospital.

Stages of Labour
By understanding what is happening with your body and your baby, you can make informed decisions and be more relaxed knowing what is happening.

Medical interventions & Navigating the System
We talk about common (and more rare) interventions and why they may be offered/happen, including induction, epidurals, and c-sections. We talk about birth as it is now – and how to navigate the system we are currently in.

Natural comfort measures

Using these techniques and tips can help relieve your pain naturally during labour. We go over what to buy, how to use the items and techniques such as breathing and visualization.

Postpartum and the fourth trimester
The postpartum period begins after baby arrives. We talk about what happens to everyone in the first day, the first week, and the rest of the fourth trimester.

Newborn care 101
We cover the essentials for the first days and weeks as you get to know your baby. Skin to skin, infant sleep, bathing, diapering, and more.

Breastfeeding/chestfeeding
Getting a good latch, trying different positions, and is the baby eating enough? Breastfeeding often doesn’t come naturally – and in fact, is a learned skill. Feel prepared to know when and where to get help.
